Volkswagen’s all-electric concept ID. Buggy, which is a modern take on the dune buggies of the 1960s, has taken to the sands for the first time during Monterrey Car Week.
The ID. Buggy debuted at the Geneva Motor Show and VW has taken the concept along to producing a drivable model that uses the brand’s modular MEB platform.
The video shows the buggy silently driving along the Monterrey Peninsula and performing donuts along the beach, accompanied by its Meyers Manx counterpart from the 60s.
The buggy’s electric motor with single speed transmission produced 150kWh of power and a range of 250km on the WLTP cycle. The car’s interior is also waterproof, which is ideal for trips to the beach. Sadly, for now, the ID. Buggy remains a concept, but there will surely be a long list of takers if it were to be put into production.
