Lucid Motors presented a first-ever, behind-the-scenes look inside its AMP-1 factory previewing the production process of the upcoming Lucid Air. It’s a rare glimpse into what goes on behind the walls of AMP-1 and highlights Lucid’s clean-sheet approach to manufacturing.
Having built the first greenfield, dedicated electric vehicle factory in North America, Lucid is following that up with processes that employ hand craftsmanship.
The video offers insight from Lucid’s AMP-1 team as they share the level of hands-on detail that goes into making each Lucid Air. Within the general assembly featured, the body, powertrain and crafted interior of the Lucid Air come together.
“We do have some robots and we do have automation, but this vehicle is put together by humans. And it takes real craftsmanship,” said Art Schlaud, Director of Manufacturing for General Assembly, Lucid Motors.
The process is followed closely by testing and evaluation with an inspection that consists of 180 attributes before a Lucid Air is approved. It is a culmination of operations and engineering leading up to deliveries in the second half of 2021.
