Bentley unveiled its fourth-generation Continental GT Speed at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week. The new model featured an all-new 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine paired with an electric motor and 25.9 kWh battery, creating a hybrid powertrain.
The Continental GT Speed accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reached a top speed of 208 mph. It could travel 50 miles on electric power alone on the EU drive cycle, producing 29 g/km of CO2 with a total range exceeding 500 miles.
Bentley brought more than 30 new Continental GT Speeds to North America for a nationwide dealer tour and customer drives. The showcase model at Monterey featured an Orange Flame Satin exterior, which required 55 hours to apply and finish. It also had gloss black exterior brightware, black-painted 22″ wheels, a sports exhaust, and a Naim audio system.
The new Continental GT Speed underwent a comprehensive exterior and interior redesign. It introduced a new chassis system with two-chamber air springs, new dual-valve dampers, and Bentley Dynamic Ride. The car achieved a 49:51 rear-biased weight distribution for the first time in its history.
Inside, the GT Speed featured new wellness seat technology, air ionization, three-dimensional leather textures, and new modern quilting. The model was available in both coupe and convertible versions, marking the first time in Continental GT history that both were launched simultaneously.
Bentley planned to begin production of the new Continental GT Speed in late Q3, with deliveries starting in Q4. The vehicles were to be crafted entirely by hand at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England.
Alongside the new GT Speed, Bentley also displayed the Speed Six Continuation Series at Monterey Car Week, offering rides to customers, media, and VIPs in the Parsons Napier Green ‘Car Zero’.
