TLX Technologies is an innovative, technology-centric producer of customized electro-mechanical solenoid products. With over 150 years of combined solenoid design experience and multiple design patents, our team’s strength lies in designing and manufacturing custom solutions that perfectly fit each client’s unique applications.
TLX Technologies partners with OEMs and Tier 1 system suppliers to develop new technologies for current and emerging vehicle systems. We use proportional, high-speed, high temperature, and latching technologies to custom design solenoids and valves. We partner with our customers’ design teams to develop products that give special consideration to performance, energy efficiency, and weight. Past products we have recently designed include a discrete proportional valve for thermal management, a fluid dosing valve for fluid spray control, a 3-way cooling valve for electronic coolant control, and an on-off latching valve for fluid control.
Electric vehicle design teams are under pressure to develop a product that gets more mileage per charge without sacrificing style or performance. Thermal management and component efficiency are two crucial factors for success. TLX’s Discrete Proportional Valve (DPV) technology overcomes challenges in both of these areas through the intelligent use of traditional binary (on/off) control valves in a single manifold. Selected actuation of the individual binary valves provides stepped control of multiple flow rates.
In addition, DPV technology offers the flexibility to support different electric vehicle applications. Management of some heat sources can require as much as ten liters of coolant delivered at different flow rates. A simple DPV solution uses two binary valves in one manifold to allow for four flow positions with one position being OFF (no flow). With three binary valves, the system would allow for eight stepped flow rate positions. This technology can be controlled through an electrical connection or can be embedded with analog or digital input. The DPV system is lightweight and energy efficient; it also eliminates hysteresis and improves leak performance. DPV technology’s performance and flexibility make it a great option for many electric vehicle applications.
