Scansonic MI GmbH develops, produces and sells laser processing optics for welding, brazing, hardening, softening, coating and cutting. Founded in 2000, the company set a new industry standard with its very first product. An innovative processing optic for laser brazing allowed very fine seams in the visible area of car bodies for the first time. Today the company is world market leader in laser joining with tactile seam tracking in car body production.
This extensive process know how in engineering and laser processing is a great asset for the new applications in laser welding that are emerging in the field of electromobility. Compared to car body construction, the accuracies required in electric drive systems are even higher. Laser processing optics of Scansonic are used for example for battery cells and enclosures, panel coolers, bipoloar plates or copper hairpins as well as for power electronics.
Scansonic sees itself as a development partner to its customers, with most of whom it has long-standing relationships. The modular design of the optics enables customer-specific, flexible solutions for the respective production task, including process monitoring with artificial intelligence.
This is made possible not least by the company's own laser application center. It has 10 fully equipped laboratories for developing new processes and devices. This is where the application engineers test new Scansonic products, support customers who want to develop new manufacturing processes and work on research projects together with international universities and institutes.
The company is part of the Berlin.Industrial.Group. (B.I.G.) with headquarters in Berlin and around 360 employees, who generated a turnover of 58.3 million euros in 2023.
