The Volkswagen Group presented ten new models from its various brands at Auto Shanghai 2025, including five world premieres that highlight the company’s focus on the Chinese market.
Volkswagen’s three concept vehicles – the ID. ERA, ID. EVO, and ID. AURA – made their debut as part of a new generation of intelligent, fully connected EVs designed specifically for Chinese customers. Additionally, Audi unveiled its A6L e-tron electric model based on the Premium Platform Electric platform, while the new AUDI brand introduced its first series model, the AUDI E5 Sportback.
These launches form part of Volkswagen’s plan to introduce more than 20 fully electric and electrified models in China by 2027, expanding to around 30 purely electric models by 2030.
The company also demonstrated its AI-supported highly automated driving assistance system developed by Cariad’s joint venture Carizon. Volkswagen plans to integrate this technology into vehicles starting this year, with wider implementation in a new generation of compact-class vehicles from 2026.
Other showcased vehicles included two hybrids, the Lamborghini Temerario and Bentley Continental GT Convertible Azure.
“China is the technological pacemaker of global transformation. And the Volkswagen Group is playing a key role in shaping this development,” said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG. “With a new generation of intelligent, fully connected vehicles, we are focusing entirely on the digital, smart world in which our Chinese customers live.”
