Renault is set to unveil its Twingo E-Tech electric prototype at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, scheduled from October 14 to 20. The vehicle, first revealed in November 2023, will make its public debut at the event.
The Twingo E-Tech electric prototype aims to recapture the spirit of the original Twingo, which was introduced in 1992. The new model is designed as an all-electric car for urban driving, featuring a compact footprint for agility in city environments and five doors for practicality. The prototype maintains the distinctive monovolume silhouette of its predecessor, incorporating a fixed glass roof to enhance interior lighting. It also includes several design elements inspired by the first Twingo, such as the headlamps, which now feature LED rings.
The rear design echoes the original Twingo’s tail, with protruding taillights matching the shape of the headlamps. The Twingo lettering on the tailgate adds a playful touch to the overall design. Renault has emphasized the vehicle’s expressive and endearing characteristics, particularly in its front-end design. The headlamps and front lines, topped by the brand emblem, are intended to create a sense of familiarity and appeal. The prototype features several nods to its heritage, including round door handles that light up and three small openings on the bonnet as a tribute to the original model.
This show car prefigures the fourth-generation production Twingo, which is expected to be available in 2026. Developed by Ampere, Renault’s electric vehicle division, the company aims to offer the production model at a starting price of less than €20,000. The Twingo E-Tech electric is part of Renault’s broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle lineup, which includes models such as the Renault 5 E-Tech electric, Renault 4 E-Tech electric, Megane E-Tech electric, and Scenic E-Tech electric. Through these offerings, Renault seeks to make electric mobility more accessible to a wider range of consumers.
