Kia has revealed full details of the new Kia EV3, the company’s dedicated compact EV SUV. Drawing on the advanced technology and customer-focused values of the EV9 SUV, the EV3 brings a unique, immersive experience to the compact EV SUV sector.
“By providing groundbreaking design, an industry-leading electric drivetrain, and practical, innovative lifestyle solutions, the EV3 aims to extend Kia’s exceptional EV SUV experience to a wider audience,” said Ho Sung Song, President and CEO at Kia. “With a WLTP driving range of up to 600km and fast-charging capability, the EV3 addresses common concerns about electric vehicles. It will reassure those who may have been hesitant to make the switch to electric mobility and will lead the mass adoption of EVs.”
The front showcases vertical headlamps and Kia’s Tiger Face design with Star Map lighting. The sleek, sloping roofline transitions into a hatchback-style tailgate, emphasizing the car’s dynamic silhouette and spacious interior.
At the rear, a thick black trim connects the sturdy C-pillar design with the dynamic roofline, while geometric rear lamps integrate with the rear glass. The EV3 comes in nine colors, including two new options: Aventurine Green and Terracotta.
The EV3’s interior is designed for comfort, with a sliding table in the center console and adjustable ambient lighting. It features a 25-liter frunk and a 460-liter rear load capacity. A combined 30-inch widescreen display integrates climate control, entertainment, and navigation functions.
The EV3 offers a 58.3kWh or 81.4kWh battery, with an electric motor providing 150kW/283Nm power. The Long Range variant can travel up to 600km on a single charge and charges from 10-80% in about 31 minutes. Advanced safety features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
Kia’s new AI Assistant enhances the driving experience with natural language understanding. The EV3 will launch in Korea in July 2024, followed by a European release later in the year.
“The EV3 embodies our design philosophy perfectly – a combination of playful design combined with thoughtful functionality,” said Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design. “Though compact, the inspiring exterior envelops an open interior space that emphasises restorative relaxation for every journey. Its future-facing aesthetic is further emboldened by the choice of daring colours; inside, the spacious cabin and the incorporation of new organic materials express a youthful sense of energy and playfulness.”
