Isuzu has revealed its new D-Max EV at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, launching what the company describes as Europe’s first fully electric commercial pick-up truck with full working capabilities.
The electric version of Isuzu’s D-Max maintains commercial vehicle specifications including full-time 4×4 capability, over 1-tonne payload, and 3.5-tonne towing capacity. Powered by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, the vehicle has a WLTP range of 263km and features dual motors producing 140 kW total output with 325 Nm of torque.
The D-Max EV accelerates from 0-62mph in 10.1 seconds and reaches speeds over 80mph. The vehicle includes multi-level regenerative braking and an Eco Mode to extend range. It retains off-road capabilities with 600mm water wading depth and 210mm ground clearance.
Available in Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations, the D-Max EV introduces a new De-Dion rear suspension replacing the traditional leaf spring setup for improved handling and reduced cabin noise. The vehicle is built on a strengthened ladder chassis and includes Rough Terrain Mode for difficult conditions.
The battery comes with an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty. Production models for right-hand drive markets including the UK are scheduled to arrive in early 2026.
“We are incredibly proud to unveil The New Isuzu D-Max EV here in Birmingham,” said Yasuhiro Takeuchi, Executive Vice President of Isuzu Motors International Operations. “This model represents a major milestone not only for Isuzu but also for the wider commercial vehicle sector. We have engineered a fully electric pick-up that truly performs in real-world working environments.”
The electric pick-up maintains compatibility with Isuzu’s latest infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through a high-resolution touchscreen, and includes updated Advanced Driver Assist Systems.
