Global automation company Kuka has won a contract with Chinese OEM GAC to supply industrial robots for the manufacture of electric vehicles.
Kuka will deliver approximately 430 industrial robots, including units from its KR Quantec and KR Fortec series, as well as controllers. The robots will be used for joining and handling tasks in body-in-white production. Kuka’s cloud-based Connect platform will also be implemented, providing GAC with access to robot data.
“This contract underscores our expertise in automation,” said Till Reuter, CEO of Kuka (above). “At the same time, we are further strengthening our position in the growth market of Asia and profiting from the megatrend toward automation.”
