DSV Air & Sea has introduced two electric trucks to its Singapore operations, marking the company’s latest step toward sustainable logistics in the region.
The global transport and logistics provider received a Volvo FL Electric, designed for urban distribution, and a Volvo FM Electric, suited for longer-haul operations. Both vehicles feature all-electric drivetrains and have been customized for DSV’s local needs, with the FL equipped with three batteries and the FM with five.
“Launching our new electric fleet marks a pivotal moment for DSV in Singapore,” said Gino Marzola, Managing Director of DSV Air & Sea Singapore & Malaysia. “We are thrilled by the positive feedback from clients and are confident that this initiative will bring us closer to achieving our long-term sustainability goals.”
The delivery comes as DSV expands its electric vehicle fleet globally. The company already operates electric vans and smaller e-trucks for last-mile deliveries in Singapore and recently signed a deal for 300 electric trucks for its European operations.
Volvo Trucks, which has 4,200 electric trucks operating in 46 countries, is providing support through a seven-year Gold Service Agreement covering service and repairs. UD Trucks Singapore conducted driver training before the handover to ensure efficient operation.
“Long-lasting partnerships and a dedicated determination to truly make an impact are crucial for achieving substantial CO2 reductions in practice,” said Anna Engblom, Managing Director of Volvo Trucks, Southeast Asia & Japan.
The initiative aligns with both DSV’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 for sustainable development. Joseph Heng, General Manager of UD Trucks Singapore, noted that the combination of innovative technology and strong customer support would help Singapore achieve its sustainability goals.
The move comes as DSV prepares to acquire DB Schenker, a strategic expansion that will enhance its global logistics capabilities. The company reports growing interest from clients in electric vehicles for their operations and is working with customers to evaluate how electric trucks can improve their supply chains.
