Byton has completed Cold Environment Testing (CET) for its M-Byte prototypes in Inner Mongolia, China. The tests are part of the company’s testing and development program, which has seen around 100 prototypes on tracks and real-world roads in the USA and China.
During the CET, Byton engineers drove thousands of miles on open roads and specially prepared test tracks at temperatures down to -30°C (-22°F). The development and testing focus was on batteries, battery management and drive electronics. Chassis, running gear and the heating system was also under scrutiny.
At Byton’s Nanjing headquarters, work is continuing on production facilities for the vehicle. The halls have been constructed, and are now being equipped with machinery. Work on the press and paint shop is nearing completion. Pre-series production will begin in summer 2019, with the first production vehicles delivered to China at the end of the same year. USA and Europe deliveries are scheduled for the second half, and end of 2020 respectively.
