As Mini continues development work on its all-electric production vehicle, which is due in 2019, the British auto maker has revealed a unique vehicle ahead of the New York International Auto Show – the Classic Mini Electric. Combining an all-electric powertrain with the iconic chassis so familiar to Mini enthusiasts, the one-off vehicle is a restored Mini Cooper – complete with yellow Mini Electric logo – fitted with an as-yet unspecified Mini electric powertrain.
The upcoming series production electric Mini will be unveiled in 2019, and was foreshadowed in 2017 by the Mini Electric Concept, which was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The 2019 launch will coincide with the 60th anniversary of the classic Mini. The production vehicle will be built at the car maker’s plant in Oxford, UK.
