Fiat’s Ducato professional van will be available as a BEV in 2020, the company has announced.
The model will be Fiat’s and the FCA Group’s first fully-electric professional model, as the commercial purpose and utility industry follows the passenger vehicle market in the move toward alternative powertrain technologies.
While the company has said that there will be “no trade-off in terms of load and performance” the development of the vehicle is going through a pilot project where major clients will first be able to access the BEV.
“Fiat Professional will for the first time offer a full electric version of the Ducato, which will be available to pre-order later this year. This version will start with a pilot scheme working with major clients to better grasp the specific need of customer requirements,” the company said in a statement.
