Metis Engineering has launched a new family of configurable CAN-based environmental sensors designed for monitoring safety parameters and emissions in ESS, EV, and HVAC systems. The product line includes three specialized sensors: Cell Guard for lithium-ion batteries, H Guard for hydrogen detection, and Air Wise for air quality monitoring. All devices feature CAN communication for integration with existing systems.

According to Metis, Cell Guard provides comprehensive monitoring of lithium-ion battery health, tracking cell venting, moisture, dewpoint, pressure changes, shock loads, and hydrogen generation. This technology enables detection of potential failures before they escalate, improving safety and longevity in applications ranging from EVs to grid storage and industrial systems.
H Guard addresses safety concerns in hydrogen applications by detecting trace amounts of the gas before it reaches explosive concentrations. The sensor supports hydrogen vehicles, fuel cells, and refueling infrastructure with real-time alerts through its CAN-based communication system.
The Air Wise sensor monitors NOx and CO2 levels in HVAC and ventilation systems, helping maintain indoor air quality while identifying inefficiencies that could contribute to excess emissions. This data-driven approach enables more effective ventilation management and improved environmental sustainability.
The sensors are applicable across automotive, aerospace, energy storage, and industrial sectors, with design flexibility that accommodates emerging applications like hydrogen refueling stations and next-generation battery technologies.
