Hitachi ZeroCarbon and airport bus manufacturer COBUS Industries have announced a partnership to monitor and manage EV batteries across COBUS’s global fleet. Under the agreement, Hitachi will install its BatteryManager system in 100 e.COBUS extended range buses by 2025.
The technology will track battery health and performance, aiming to extend battery life and reduce operational costs for airports using COBUS vehicles. The system provides real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance alerts to prevent potential issues before they affect service.
“The airport network has a net-zero roadmap just like any other industry, and we’re playing an important role in this by delivering sustainable mobility solutions,” said COBUS Industries CEO Patricia Vasconcelos. “To keep our assets healthy and running efficiently for the long term, we need to understand how to manage our EV batteries to optimise routes and retain the value of our assets.”
The partnership will generate data on battery performance across different climates and operational conditions. “We will gather and provide insights on how these assets can withstand a variety of conditions, from climate to terrain,” said Hitachi ZeroCarbon CEO Ram Ramachander, “To show how they can reduce operational risk and deliver robust fleet management.”
The BatteryManager system provides fleet operators with detailed reporting and forecasting capabilities to support operational planning and asset management decisions.
