Swedish company PowerCell is to supply its most advanced hydrogen fuel cell stack for an aviation project in Japan.
The €1.15 million (US$1.2 million) order from the Japanese company will see PowerCell provide its HDS300 fuel cell stack and engineering support for the 18-month project until April 2026.
Richard Berkling, CEO of the PowerCell Group said, “This order is another important step in developing and commercializing our new HDS300 stack platform for the aviation sector. Fuel cells hold immense promise for revolutionizing the aviation industry by decarbonizing everything from small passenger aircraft to regional and commuter flights.
“The potential of the HDS300 is only beginning to unfold and we are confident that this technology will play a central role in shaping the future of aviation. We’re excited to see the growing demand for electrified solutions, particularly in Asia, where the need for clean energy alternatives is accelerating.”
