Luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini and electric motor specialist YASA have announced their latest collaboration on the new Lamborghini Temerario hybrid supercar. The project marks an expansion of their partnership, which began with the development of electric motors for the Revuelto V12 hybrid earlier this year.
The Temerario will feature three axial flux electric motors developed and manufactured at YASA’s facility near Oxford, UK. Two motors are positioned on the front axle, with a third on the rear axle. Each of the front motors delivers peak torque of 300Nm and peak power of 110kW, weighing 17.3kg with dimensions of 295mm in diameter and 70mm in thickness. The motors operate at speeds up to 10,000rpm.
“Our evolving partnership with Lamborghini is a testament to our shared vision for the future of high-performance electric propulsion,” said Graeme Cook, YASA Managing Director. “The Temerario advances the path that the Revuelto established earlier this year.”
The new model builds on technology developed for the Revuelto, which uses two 110kW YASA motors on its front axle alongside its V12 engine. The Temerario pairs its electric motors with a V8 internal combustion engine.
“At Lamborghini, our pursuit of perfection drives us to integrate the latest advancements in electric propulsion,” said Davide Bizzarri, Head of Vehicle Motion at Automobili Lamborghini. “Partnering with YASA allows us to push the technical and engineering boundaries of what’s possible.”
YASA’s axial flux motor technology is known for its compact design and power-to-weight ratio. The company has supplied electric motors to several automotive manufacturers, focusing on reducing size and weight while maintaining high power output.
Cook added that this partnership demonstrates the potential of collaboration in advancing e-propulsion technology. “To see our collaboration flourish so early, first with the development of the e-propulsion system for the Revuelto V12 hybrid hypercar and now the next-generation YASA electric motor design for the Temerario V8, is simply thrilling.”
xpected to continue, with both companies committed to further development of electric propulsion systems for high-performance vehicles. All electric motors for the Temerario will be manufactured at YASA’s UK production facility in Oxford.
