Renault’s new Rafale E-Tech 4×4 plug-in hybrid SUV combines advanced technology with high-performance capabilities. Launching in Europe this November, the vehicle represents the brand’s move into premium vehicle segments.
The centerpiece of the Rafale is its innovative 300-horsepower powertrain, which features a complex system of one internal combustion engine and three electric motors. This sophisticated drivetrain delivers impressive performance, accelerating from 80 to 120 km/h in just 4 seconds while maintaining exceptional fuel efficiency.
“Renault Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 ch symbolizes our move upmarket and our legitimacy to conquer all customers with a high-performance version,” said Bruno Vanel, VP of Renault Brand, Product, Revenue & International Markets Expansion. “It is the result of all the brand’s know-how: a super-efficient hybrid, a permanently active 4-wheel drive system, an intelligent active suspension on the Atelier Alpine version.”
The vehicle offers remarkable versatility in its driving modes. In electric-only mode, it can travel up to 105 kilometers, while its full hybrid configuration provides flexibility for longer journeys. With a substantial 22 kWh battery, the Rafale can be charged via socket or through regenerative braking.
Fuel consumption figures are particularly noteworthy, with the vehicle achieving 0.5 liters per 100 kilometers in combined cycle testing and 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers with a depleted battery—class-leading performance that addresses common concerns about hybrid technology.
The Rafale E-Tech will be available in an Atelier Alpine trim, featuring distinctive 21-inch wheels and an optional Satin Sommet Blue body color. Engineers from Alpine Cars have developed its chassis and agility control system, including a self-adjusting smart suspension with predictive camera control.
Built at Renault’s Palencia plant in Spain, the vehicle represents the company’s commitment to technological innovation and market expansion. The launch aligns with CEO Luca de Meo’s strategy of establishing Renault products in higher market segments while demonstrating technological excellence.
