Trev Enerji Otomotiv, a Turkish sustainable transportation company, has introduced a new electric bus developed in partnership with the Municipality of Istanbul. The vehicle, a retrofitted Mercedes-Benz Citaro O530, features advanced technology aimed at improving urban transportation efficiency and sustainability.
“Delivering the industry’s first immersion-cooled battery electric bus in collaboration with Mivolt not only reinforces our technical expertise but also underscores our commitment to developing eco-friendly and sustainable solutions,” said Cenk Yol, Branch Manager at Trev Enerji Otomotiv.
The bus is equipped with a 318 kWh battery pack utilizing innovative immersion technology with Mivolt dielectric liquids. This proprietary system enhances the vehicle’s energy density, safety, and charging rate. The bus has completed over 40,000 km of on-road testing in Istanbul and boasts a range of 250 km on a single charge, with a top speed of 70 km/h. It can be fully charged in under 45 minutes.
“We take pride in our collaboration with Trev Enerji and witnessing them deliver yet another disruptive solution for urban transportation using our eco-friendly and safe dielectric liquid Mivolt,” said Mark Lashbrook, Technical Director at Midel & Mivolt Fluids Ltd.
The project aims to retrofit 400 buses owned by the Municipality of Istanbul, marking a significant step towards achieving a net-zero future in urban transportation.
