Equipmake, the electrification engineering specialist, has announced a major upgrade to its proprietary heavy duty electric motor technology. The company’s new HTM-3500 model boasts double the continuous power output of its predecessor, meeting the demands of the rapidly electrifying commercial vehicle industry.
The HTM-3500 retains the same peak figures of 3500Nm and 400kW as before, but crucially, its continuous power has been increased from 100kW to 200kW at 2500rpm. “Our upgraded, heavy-duty HTM-3500 motor sets new standards and is another example of how our proprietary e-propulsion product range is rapidly evolving,” said Ian Foley, CEO of Equipmake.
This direct-drive motor is designed to seamlessly integrate with the propshaft and axles of heavy duty vehicles like buses, coaches, and trucks, without the need for a separate transmission. “By doubling its continuous power, our new HTM-3500 enables electric buses, coaches, trucks and other heavy vehicles to operate with greater real-world performance and efficiency during their regular duty cycles,” Foley explained.
As one of the leading Tier 1 supplier of electrification technology, Equipmake offers a wide range of electric motors, inverters, and complete powertrain solutions. The company has forged strategic partnerships with major OEMs, including a deal with Perkins, a Caterpillar subsidiary, to develop a heavy-duty hybrid electric system.
Equipmake’s technology is also being licensed to global automotive supplier Sona Comstar for applications in electric cars, buses, and commercial vehicles in India and Southeast Asia. Additionally, the company’s motors and inverters are being used in aerospace, space, and high-performance automotive projects.
“Heavy-duty vehicle electrification is happening at pace and our sector-leading e-propulsion technology is accelerating the transition from ICE to zero emission vehicles in multiple markets,” concludes Foley.
