Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) has partnered with JET Charge, Australia’s leading EV infrastructure company, to create the country’s largest dealer charging network for Toyota’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the bZ4X. The ambitious project, completed over 18 months, saw JET Charge supply and install EV charging hardware at 244 Toyota dealerships across Australia, covering both metropolitan and rural areas in every state and territory.
The collaboration aims to support the smooth introduction of Toyota’s flagship BEV and set a new standard for dealership charging networks in Australia. JET Charge’s comprehensive approach included providing dealers with training on EV product advice and offering one-on-one guidance, ensuring they were well-equipped to market and sell Toyota’s first BEV confidently.
“We have provided a nation-wide charging solution to ensure that the market entry of Toyota’s flagship BEV, the bZ4X, has been as smooth as possible,” says JET Charge Co-Founder Tim Washington. “Between 8-10% of all new car sales in Australia are hybrid or EV, so it is essential that Toyota dealers are confident in selling this new technology and able to provide customers with the same ease-of-purchase as with any vehicle purchase.”
The partnership also focused on enhancing the customer experience by providing a convenient pathway to at-home EV charging. As Toyota’s approved aftermarket supplier of EV hardware, JET Charge supplies two charging cables with every bZ4X sold.
“By investing in charging facilities at 244 metro and rural locations across the country, our Dealers have been well equipped to support the sale and service of battery-electric vehicles,” says Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Earlier this year we launched the bZ4X, and we will launch at least two more BEV’s by the end of 2026. This charging network is an important way to help our customers lower tailpipe carbon emissions and ensure no-one is left behind.”
This nationwide charging network not only supports Toyota’s current BEV offering but also paves the way for future electric vehicle launches planned by the company. The initiative demonstrates Toyota’s proactive approach to addressing the infrastructure needs of the growing electric vehicle market in Australia.
